In December 2011, Chilly Gonzales moved his piano to the Pigalle studio in Paris. Alone for 10 days, he recorded a selection of his compositions from among a hundred melodies written in the 8 years since the legendary album Solo Piano I.

Day after day, the pure and meticulous recording process took place. Chilly Gonzales recorded his pieces one after another, until he captured the very essence of each.

After years spent entertaining his audience with his larger-than-life personality, challenging every artist in the world and forcing them to surpass themselves to reach the excellence they owe their fans, Chilly Gonzales presents us with his most persuasive argument: the 14 tracks of Solo Piano II contained in this songbook.

The road to Solo Piano II was a rich one for “the self-proclaimed musical genius”. Buoyed by a Grammy nomination and a Guinness World Record for the longest concert, Chilly Gonzales finally returned to the stage after many years spent behind a studio console working for others. He became THE pianist sought after by Drake, Feist, Daft Punk... and even Steve Jobs for his worldwide iPad 2 campaign.

Through his albums and tours, Chilly fascinates with his versatility as a performer and his virtuosity as a pianist. Rare is the artist who gets his audience dancing to the trendiest beats of the moment, then calls on a symphony orchestra to accompany him during his rap concert.

With Solo Piano II, Chilly Gonzales once again stands out as a true entertainer, aware that the finest mark of respect for his fans is above all to “shut up and play the piano” (as Chilly Gonzales puts it in “The Unspeakable Chilly Gonzales”, 2011).
