The Anacrouse collection offers pianists, beginners and advanced alike, a wide choice of classical works from the Renaissance to the present day. It brings together major works of the repertoire as well as rarer pieces, and also offers transcriptions for piano solo or four hands, selected for their musical and educational interest. Each score, available individually, benefits from careful editorial work: a rigorously established musical text, clear and legible engraving, accompanied by a short biography of the composer and a note on the work.

The “Prelude No. 4 in E minor, Op. 28” is without doubt one of the most poignant and universal pages of the Romantic repertoire. Its apparent simplicity conceals deep work on the singing line, expressiveness and the shaping of sound. It is a fundamental work for any pianist wishing to approach Chopin’s “cantabile” and pedal management, while exploring a melancholy of great purity.

Composed during Frédéric Chopin’s stay in Majorca between 1838 and 1839, this fourth prelude of the set of twenty-four was, in accordance with the composer’s last wishes, played on the organ at his own funeral at the church of La Madeleine in Paris in 1849.
