The Anacrouse collection offers pianists, beginners and advanced alike, a wide choice of classical works from the Renaissance to the present day. It brings together major works of the repertoire as well as rarer pieces, and also offers transcriptions for piano solo or four hands, selected for their musical and educational interest. Each score, available individually, benefits from careful editorial work: a rigorously established musical text, clear and legible engraving, accompanied by a short biography of the composer and a note on the work.

The “Ave Maria” for high voice (soprano or tenor) highlights the clarity and brilliance of the upper register. For the soloist, the challenge lies in controlling sustained notes and managing the breath over long ascending phrases, demanding a perfect legato. The pianist accompanies this airy song with arpeggios of absolute fluidity, creating an atmosphere of crystalline purity.

Composed in 1825 by Franz Schubert (1797-1828), this work is inspired by Walter Scott’s poem The Lady of the Lake. Although originally conceived as “Ellen’s Third Song”, its mystical beauty led to the universal adoption of the Latin text of the prayer to the Virgin. It remains one of the summits of the Romantic song, combining fervour and elegance.
