Sailor’s HornpipeThe Comptine collection is made up of transcriptions of children's and traditional songs.
Each title includes a piano arrangement graded by difficulty level (from 1 to 9) to suit both beginner and experienced musicians.
The difficulty of the piano arrangement is ⑤, corresponding to a fairly easy piece with more frequent chords in the left hand and use of the sustain pedal, at a moderate tempo.
“Sailor’s Hornpipe” is a traditional British melody associated with nautical dances and the world of sailors. Lively and rhythmic, it evokes the energy of ships’ decks and dances performed at sea, with a rousing, festive character. Very popular, this theme is known in France in particular as the theme tune of the television programme La Chasse aux trésors, and also appears in the world of Popeye and the Popeye animated series, reinforcing its association with the maritime imagination.
The sheet, including the piano arrangement, the lyrics and a vocal score with chords and guitar tablature, is printed on natural white Rives 180 g/m² paper and presented in a transparent plastic sleeve.
The downloadable version (PDF) includes the MP3.
