Antonin Dvorak
Tempo Di ValseThe Anacrouse collection offers pianists, beginners and advanced alike, a wide choice of classical works from the Renaissance to the present day. It brings together major works of the repertoire as well as rarer pieces, and also offers transcriptions for piano solo or four hands, selected for their musical and educational interest. Each score, available individually, benefits from careful editorial work: a rigorously established musical text, clear and legible engraving, accompanied by a short biography of the composer and a note on the work.
The “Tempo Di Valse” (from the Serenade for Strings Opus 22), presented here in a solo piano transcription by David Neyrolles, is a piece full of charm that allows work on the suppleness of triple time and the sway specific to the waltz. This title is taken from the reference songbook “9 Famous Classical Themes for Piano”, the second volume of the Anacrouse collection. This elementary-to-intermediate transcription offers fluid writing that makes it possible to approach Slavic lyricism with delicacy, paying attention to the balance between the singing melody and the light accompaniment.
Composed in 1875 by Antonín Dvořák (1841-1904) in just a few days, the Serenade for Strings in E major is one of his most luminous works. This second movement, with its melancholy yet graceful waltz, bears witness to the melodic genius of the Czech composer. This edition allows the pianist to rediscover at the keyboard all the tenderness, brilliance and elegance of this Romantic page, often used for its poetic, soothing atmosphere.
