The Anacrouse collection offers pianists, beginners and advanced alike, a wide choice of classical works from the Renaissance to the present day. It brings together major works of the repertoire as well as rarer pieces, and also offers transcriptions for piano solo or four hands, selected for their musical and educational interest. Each score, available individually, benefits from careful editorial work: a rigorously established musical text, clear and legible engraving, accompanied by a short biography of the composer and a note on the work.

The “Nocturne in E flat major” (Opus 9 No. 2) is the ideal study for mastering bel canto at the piano. The main work lies in the right hand, which must make the melody “sing” with vocal suppleness, integrating the many ornaments and flourishes fluidly and expressively. The left hand, for its part, demands great regularity in the wide accompaniment leaps to support the discourse without ever weighing it down. It is a high-precision exercise in the use of the pedal and the handling of rubato, essential to convey this nocturnal, dreamy atmosphere.

Composed around 1830-1832 by Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849), this second nocturne of Opus 9 is without doubt the most emblematic work of the Polish composer. Drawing on the form created by the Irishman John Field, Chopin transcends it with unprecedented ornamental richness and emotional depth. An immense success from its publication in Paris, this nocturne embodies the quintessence of the Chopin style: aristocratic elegance mixed with a raw sensitivity, making the piano the confidant of the most intimate emotions.
